2023-MSc or PhD opportunity in Molecular Physiology and Evolutionary Biology!

Updated: Oct 17, 2022

Molecular Physiology and Evolutionary Biology

Start date: Fall 2023

Stipend: Minimum $24,300 for MSc and $25,800 for PhD

We have a graduate student position available with the Nelson and Moyes labs in the Biology Department at Queen’s University.

The project involves studying the molecular physiology of low oxygen tolerance and consequences for life-history trade offs in a freshwater zooplankton (Daphnia pulicaria). The research involves field sampling of lakes surrounding Queen’s University (Canada) and laboratory experiments. This project is a joint research collaboration between Dr. William Nelson (Population Ecologist) and Dr. Chris Moyes (Comparative Biochemistry) with the overall aim to understand the molecular, ecological and evolutionary processes that facilitate the diversity of oxygen tolerance found in the nearby lakes. We have a vibrant research group and access to a wide range of research infrastructure.

Applicants interested in either an MSc or PhD program are encouraged to apply. Please send a cover letter and CV to nelsonw@queensu.ca. Information about us can be found at: Nelson, Moyes. Information about the Department of Biology and Queen’s School of Graduate Studies can be found by clicking on the attached links.
