Pest Insect Ecology and Insecticide Resistance
Start date: Fall 2023
Stipend: Minimum $24,300 for MSc and $25,800 for PhD
We have a graduate student position available with the Nelson lab in the Biology Department at Queen’s University.
The project involves studying the population dynamics of multivoltine pest insects. The overall aim of the research program is to search for strategies to control pest outbreaks while minimizing the evolution of insecticide resistance. Depending on the interest of the candidate, the research can focus on the link between plasticity in life history schedules and population dynamics, or on the ecological and evolutionary mechanisms behind evolution of insecticide resistance. We have a vibrant research group and access to a wide range of research infrastructure.
Applicants interested in either an MSc or PhD program are encouraged to apply. Please send a cover letter and CV to nelsonw@queensu.ca. Information about us can be found at: Nelson and information about the graduate studies at Queen’s can be found here.
